What happens when a community makes room for one another at the table?
The Orofino Village Alliance — The Village — invites you to Orofino Connects: A Longest Table Event, an evening of good food, live music and conversation with the people who make Orofino home.
And when we say everyone is invited, we mean everyone.
Whether your family has been here for generations or you just unpacked the moving boxes. Young families and retirees. Students and business owners. Nimiipuu neighbors and people whose families came here from somewhere else. People involved in every organization in town, and people who haven’t found their place yet.
There is a chair at this table for you.
One Long Table. One Community.
We’ll gather around a series of connected tables beneath the trees at Orofino City Park, creating one long community table.
This isn’t a fundraiser. There is no admission charge. There isn’t an organization you need to belong to or a person you need to know.
It’s simply an invitation to come have dinner with your neighbors.
We’ll have a few conversation starters on the tables, not speeches or an agenda, just opportunities to learn something about the person sitting across from you.
What do you love about Orofino? What could we do better? What do you hope this community will create or preserve for the next generation?
Different stories. Different experiences. One table. Our Orofino.
Dinner Is On Us
The entrée is provided FREE.
If you’re able, bring a favorite side dish to share. Maybe it’s the salad everyone asks you to make, fresh bread, something from your garden, dessert or your family favorite.
But please hear this part: You do not have to bring food to come.
A side dish is an invitation to share, not an admission price. If all you bring is yourself, bring yourself.
We’ll also have:
Water • Lemonade • Coffee • Hot Chocolate
A licensed adult beverage station will be available for guests age 21+ by donation. You are welcome to bring your beverage.
And we’ll enjoy live music throughout the evening.
Please Register! So We Can Set Your Place
Orofino Connects is FREE and open to everyone, but we do ask you to register.
Why?
It’s pretty simple: we need to know how many entrées to prepare and how many chairs to put around the table.
Registration isn’t intended to make the event exclusive or limit who participates. Quite the opposite. We want to make sure that when our neighbors arrive, we have enough food and a chair waiting for everyone.
Families are welcome. Bring the kids. We will have children’s activities! Bring a friend. Invite the neighbor you’ve been meaning to get to know.

Organizations: Pull Up a Few Chairs, Too!
We’d especially love to see the organizations that help make Orofino, Orofino, represented around the table.
Schools. Library. Service clubs. Churches. Businesses. City and County departments. Community organizations. Youth groups. Nonprofits. Neighborhood groups. Tribal organizations. Clubs and informal groups of neighbors.
Become a Table Captain and invite your people to sit together and make room to meet some new people, too.
And there is NO COST to participate.
We’re not asking you for another sponsorship check.
Your participation is your contribution.
Bring your people. Decorate your section of the table if you’d like. Bring a side dish if you’re able. Welcome someone you don’t already know. Share a little about what your organization contributes to Orofino.
Your time, presence, creativity and participation are meaningful in-kind contributions to this community gathering.

Rain? We’ll Move the Table.
October in Idaho gets the final vote on the weather. 😉
Our plan is a beautiful evening under the lights in Orofino City Park.
If the forecast looks like rain or conditions make an outdoor gathering uncomfortable, we’ll move Orofino Connects indoors to the Clearwater County Fair Building.
Any location change will be posted on The Village website and social media before the event.
Rain won’t cancel the table. It will just move it indoors.
Why a Longest Table?
Orofino may be a small town, but living in the same place doesn’t automatically mean we know one another—or that everyone feels they belong.
Some people have deep roots here. Others are still putting theirs down.
Some know exactly who to call, where to volunteer and how to get involved. Others may have lived here for years and still be waiting for someone to say, “Come sit with us.”
This evening is our chance to say it.
Orofino Connects is intentionally designed to bring together people who might not otherwise find themselves at the same table, across generations, organizations, backgrounds, cultures and experiences.
We aren’t coming together because we all think alike.
We’re coming together because this is our community, and strong communities are built when neighbors know one another, listen to one another and recognize that everyone has something to contribute.
Made Possible Through Community Partnership
Orofino Connects: A Longest Table Event is hosted by the ‘The Village’ (Orofino Village Alliance) with financial support from Innovia Foundation’s North Central Idaho Fund as part of the Longest Table initiative.
We are grateful for Innovia Foundation’s investment in creating opportunities for connection and belonging in our community.
We’re equally grateful for the local businesses, organizations, volunteers, musicians and community members contributing their time, talents, services and in-kind support to bring Orofino’s table to life.
This is what community looks like: many hands creating one table.
